Does he know what mistletoe is? Who knows. Probably not, but it'll only take a little observing to figure it out, so whatever. He thinks it's funny.
You can also catch him wandering around with a drink! This is the free-for-all option. If he recognizes you from 7r, he'll probably greet you with a "Good to see you again, comrade!" or something similar; if he doesn't, he'll probably still smile and offer a friendly wave.
