summer vacation in the mgcu

You wake to the sound of waves lapping gently against the shore, the wind gently rustling through palm trees, and the cries of seagulls overhead. The scent of sea salt and tropical flowers is in the air. Wander outside or look out the window of the room you have awoken in, and you'll see that you are on a beautiful tropical island.

Good morning, everyone.

The room you've woken up in is decorated exactly to your tastes - it is the sort of home someone might have happily designed for you if perhaps you had commissioned them to make the perfect vacation getaway for you. This is true inside and out - the yard of each house seems to be decorated to each occupant's tastes, too.

Inside your vacation home, easily found, is a brochure advertising a four-day, three night island getaway. Tucked inside the pages are boarding passes from Dodo Airlines with your names on them. One boarding pass, which indicates that you would have landed on the island on Friday morning, has already been marked off as if used; the other, indicating that you will board a plane to leave on Monday evening, is clear.

The brochure includes a map of the island, so don't worry about getting lost! There are beaches, hills, fields of wildflowers, lush fruit orchards, rushing waterfalls, lazily winding rivers, a general store, a tailor's shop, and even a museum with a coffee shop on its premises. The island itself seems to have areas that are created with wildly different aesthetics, too, that all somehow seem to work together as you move from place to place. Fairy forest? Sure! Giant treehouse? Why not? Froggy shrine? You bet. Each of the various themed areas have restaurants and shops that fit their aesthetic, so if you'd like to dine or take home a souvenir, you're more than welcome to.

FRIDAY
🌸 Beachside Welcome Picnic
In the afternoon, come and join your fellow vacationers for a delicious meal on the beach! Get to know each other and make plans for your vacations! All dietary needs can be accommodated; simply look down at your plate and think of what you would like to eat. For those who cannot be in direct sunlight, check your drawers for a protective sunscreen.

SATURDAY
🌸 The Musical Talents of K.K. Slider
Come to the town plaza in the afternoon to listen to K.K. Slider give a performance! He will also take requests.
🌸 Karaoke Party
In the evening, after K.K. Slider has left, feel free to step up to the mic for a karaoke party!
🌸 Beachside Bonfire and Meteor Shower
After karaoke, gather around the fire for a delicious meal and enjoy the warmth of the bonfire. Make s'mores, tell stories, and relax as you listen to the sound of the waves and watch the shooting stars. Perhaps you'll even make a wish and find a star fragment to take home?

SUNDAY
🌸 Group Yoga
Join your fellow vacationers in the morning for a relaxing yoga session in the plaza!
🌸 Visiting Merchants
In the afternoon, visit the plaza to peruse the wares of Leif and Kicks, and compete in Label's Fashion Challenge! You can also come get your fortune told by Katrina and browse Saharah's selections of wallpapers and flooring.
🌸 Fireworks Display
In the evening, set up anywhere you would like - though the beach has a very nice view - for a fireworks display. Sparklers are also available if you prefer to use them.

MONDAY
🌸 Farewell Ceremony
We've been glad to have you here, but we're sad to see you go! Enjoy one last meal with your new friends and reminisce about the good times you've had together. At the end of the ceremony, you will each be presented with a photo album of the things you've been doing to take with you before you board your plane to go home.

ALL WEEKEND
🌸 Island Excursions
Interested in checking out the other islands? Say no more! Head to the docks on the eastern shore to meet up with Kapp'n, who will treat you to some sea shanties and row you to the nearby islands to explore.
🌸 The Big Bug-Off
Pick up a bug-catching net from the general store and catch bugs to your heart's content! Turn in your catches to Flick for a prize. Whoever has turned in the most bugs prior to departure will be given a grand prize before they leave.
🌸 Fishing Tournament
Pick up a fishing rod from the general store and experience the joys of fishing! Turn in your catches to C.J. for a prize. Whoever has turned in the most fish prior to departure will be given a grand prize before they leave.

In the daytime, check out our stands for our island-fresh produce and local specialties!

In the nighttime, check out our stands for delicacies from all over the worlds. Yes, worlds, plural.

[it's friday morning, and sheba is lying in a comfy-looking hammock outside of one of the little houses, thumbing through the brochure. she hums a little to herself and looks up as she sees someone passing by.]

[later on in the weekend, sheba can be found down at the beach, doing... something. it almost looks like she's trying to make a sandcastle, but the walls she's packing sand in for are way too big for that.

when she spots someone, she grins.]

[for whatever reason, sheba is sitting at the very top of a palm tree (how did she even get up there?), a few unlit sparklers in one hand and a lit sparkler in another. she grins down at you.]

The view's great from up here. You sure you're going to be able to see the fireworks from down there?

[On Saturday, he gathers around the fire. In a seemingly good mood, he cracks a grin at those in his vicinity.]

Should I tell a story? What do you want to hear?

[On Sunday, he beckons for stragglers just before the fireworks display.]

Hey. You shouldn't miss this. Why don't you sit down?

[On Monday, Sieghart partakes of the last meal and moves to leave without the formality of saying his farewells. One simply never knows when paths will cross again. Adios!]

fishing

[ did you know shinobu loves fish? her pet of choice is fish. her naming sense is to name people and things after birds, plants, or fish. in the canon high school au, she is the fishing team captain.

this is all to say she is spending a good chunk of her time fishing.

[ she's watching the shooting stars, expression pleasant but thoughtful. when she senses anyone nearby, she asks after a moment: ]

island-hopping

[jiuqing, being herself, has decided to take advantage of the fact that they're on an island to search for medicinal plants. so! one of the first things she does is set out on an expedition with kapp'n.

after she and whoever happens to have tagged along have been serenaded and they've docked at one of the smaller nearby islands, she steps out of the boat and looks around.]

Hmm... I've never seen some of these plants before...

[saturday night, she can be found sitting at one of the seats near the bonfire, staying near the flames to keep warm and looking up at the sky to look for shooting stars.]

Can they really predict that there will be a meteor shower tonight...?

[literally every night, jiuqing can be found visiting the night market and sampling some treat or another.]

[Whatever you're up to -- maybe you were just minding your own business -- a large butterfly has landed right on your head. Before you can do anything, you're face to face with Estelle, who slowly raises a bug net and quietly pleads:]

[It's evening, and maybe you're checking out the night market, when there's a shimmer of something bright racing across the sky. Estelle's grabbing your shoulder and pointing at the sky.]

Look -- a shooting star! Quick, wish for something!

1. forced r&r

[ one minute, you're joking about being on vacation, and the next, you wake up in a weird house. such is the life for gu "crow mouth" yun. however! once the assurance that this isn't just another horrible murder experience is mostly firmly in place, he seems quite fine to be in vacation mode. dressed in his silks, he's in the tailor's shop at first, a pair of heart shaped sunglasses sitting on the bridge of his nose, and seems to be eying some of the pieces available in the shop.

at one point, he spots this hanging on a rack and makes a tch noise, taking it out. ] Which direction was the bonfire? [ terrible.

alternatively, you might catch him eyeing some of the more summery outfits. somebody's still here in his nice liangese silks and it's kind of hot. ]

2. fishing tournament?

[ are you just kind of hanging out by the water? well. there's a nicely dressed young man standing in about calf deep, pants rolled up to his ankles, watching the movement of something under the water. and then, out of nowhere, despite the fishing pole that's sticking out of the back of his silks, he shoots a hand down to chop the water.

a fish comes flying out, straight towards you, as gu yun cheerfully calls out: ] Catch! [ wow. ]

3. but does animal crossing island have booze?

[ and finally, you can find gu yun in the late evening with a coconut shell drink perched on his chest, a straw sticking out of it, laying backwards in a big hammock. it's got enough room for two, probably? if that's what you're into. he looks like he might be asleep, eyes closed, breathing evenly. vacation... relaxing... a new concept. ]

[friday afternoon finds shi qingxuan in female form at the picnic, seated wherever is furthest away from the water's edge. shi wudu is probably somewhere around here too since they're both part of the mgcu but i refuse to thread with myself so, for now, she is steadfastly ignoring him and is instead sampling as many tropical alcoholic drinks as possible.

[on the other hand, if you're an unfriendly familiar face, she'll just give a little hmph and turn to look at something else. not subtle.]

[she has never done yoga before, but she can always learn. so! here she is at the plaza, an expression of absolute concentration on her face as she attempts to follow the yoga instructor's directions. she manages, though not quite as effortlessly as she'd like.]

Whew... this is nowhere near as easy as it looks.

upon seeing someone talk to label, she waves them over when they walk away to get changed.]

[ xie lian is here! in his dusty lil robes and his straw hat on top of his head, he's eating breakfast and seems content to just listen to the people sitting near him? there's a smile on his face, because he is truly, truly, just vibing. his plate fills itself with mantou, and he looks so surprised when it just appears?! like this is the greatest day ever.

and, while he's vibing, you may see him take a mantou... and tuck it in his sleeve... i'm sure that's fine. ]

2. bad luck

[ wherever you are, you might hear a sudden, surprised - ] Ah! [ and then a very loud thud?

if you go to investigate, you will find a xie lian, who is halfway in a hole. he looks up as someone approaches from where he was trying to pull himself out, and smiles, sheepishly. ] Ah... um, watch your step if you see a strange hole in the ground...

[ better him than someone else... then again, who else has luck that bad... ]

sunset

[ just before the night falls, xie lian can be found sitting cross legged at the dock, watching as the sun sets on the horizon. he seems very content here, enjoying his great view - it's a nostalgic, familiar sight, and the vibes coming from where he's sitting are just warm and comfortable.

if you approach, he tilts his head up, and offers a gentle smile. ]

A friend once told me islands are a lovely place to watch sunsets. Would you like to join me?

[ if characters aren't nerfed, roxana is dressed so almost all her skin is covered. it's not the most suitable for summer island wear, but she is still fashionable. for her part, she doesn't look like she's hot or sweating even if she should be. ]

[ there are stands here serving fugu, and roxana is going for the pufferfish prepared like bulgolgi or gui.

she smiles, as she receives her servings and holds them out to someone nearby. ]

[ roxana doesn't seemed surprised by the fortune she receives, as katrina tells her her luck will diminish. to anyone who happens to be passing by: ]

[ she doesn't seem to care if you overheard her fortune or not. ]

[ well. he's not stomping around now, so that's good. it's been 24 hours, he'd be exhausted if he was.

but it's evening, and he's sprawled on one of the beach seats watching the meteor shower as it happens. he seems pretty content, honestly. maybe a little like he's thinking of straight up napping. just having a sleep. he'll still wave if you settle down nearby. ]

I don't know anything about these stars, but they still look pretty.
