Wherever you are, whoever you are, you'll likely find yourself blinking one moment and teleporting in a flurry of snowflakes the next. Luckily for you, there's no murder this time! (Probably.)

Rather, you'll hear Christmas carols aplenty as you approach a winter castle, snow lightly falling and various paths leading to gardens filled with still-blooming flowers (how.) and lit topiary displays.

Upon entering the castle, you'll find it's brightly lit and decorated...welcome to the party! Frost lightly dusts the walls and some nearby surfaces and guests will find there are halls and floors aplenty to explore. There are rooms filled with plush chairs and fireplaces for those looking for something cozier, rooms filled with all kinds of games and toys, and naturally there's a large ballroom prime for dancing. Spread through you'll find tables of snacks, full-course meals, drinks, desserts, and even champagne towers. Are you looking for something specific? Simply ask a member of the staff. Watch your step though! Their assistants really are doing their best to help, and the jingling bell may be too faint to hear if you aren't paying attention.

It seems as though you've all been invited to a wonderful holiday party for no reason at all...but there is one thing amiss...or, should I say...amistletoe?

Pinned up on every doorway is a sprig of fresh mistletoe, decorated with bright red bows and dustings of frost. And sure, perhaps it's easy just to avoid the doorways if you want to be a spoilsport. But should you avoid it for too long, it will seem as though the mistletoe is following you, almost as if some asshole is hiding out and purposefully trailing behind to keep it dangling over your head.

Oh. And did I mention you can't leave the castle grounds until you play along? Pucker up.

pengu helpfully tries to poke him. he does not react. ]

[ here, let him put half of his tart on nikkari’s plate. he doesn’t have a feesh for pengu but what about a fruit? those are good for them, right? ]

[ while nikkari is at first dead set on continuing his charade in order to garner sympathy from his partner, pengu very rudely and abruptly slaps the fruit out of tonbo's hand.

once that happens, nikkari cracks and just loses his entire mind. ]

[ tonbo’s just watching it roll away now. goodbye fruit, we berry knew you ]

Ah. I see.

[ it’s not like he knows what penguin diets are?? ]

[ pengu makes a sort of squawking noise as it watches the fruit of its labor (badumtshhh), because it is still on the clock and it just created work for itself... it hops off nikkari's lap and waddles after the fruit. goodbye forever

meanwhile, nikkari has completely dropped the act, now leaning comfortably on the yari once again as he continues to giggle, fits of quiet laughter managing to punctuate his words. ]

S-sorry, Tonbo-kun... that was just too funny...

Penguin-dono seemed rather offended by my offer.

[ despite the mild confusion in his voice, he’s more than happy to slide back into a cuddle once again wrapping his arm around nikkari’s shoulder ]

I do hope he wasn’t too mad.

[ but over worked and underpaid penguins aside, tonbo noses his hair, pressing an absent kiss to his temple. ]

And you aren’t as well...?

Of course not. I was only teasing... though I admit I may have gotten a little carried away.

[ here he reaches for the side of tonbo's face, coaxing the yari to face him so that he can kiss him properly. he keeps it chaste, lips lingering against his partner's for only a few seconds before he pulls back. ]

...as long as you never betray my trust, that is. Hahaha...

[ ... he's still laughing, but this time, the humor is gone from his voice. they must be sitting under a vent or something, because it got reaaally chilly all of a sudden... ]

[ it really says how comfortable they’ve gotten with each other because all tonbo does is tug on his ponytail even while he’s pressing their foreheads together mid doki. stop that you’ll scare the others. ]

I would betray myself first before I even consider such. You’re quite stuck with my endless devotion.

[ ah... there's the return of the sincere laughter as tonbo tilts his head back by pulling on his hair. ]

And I wouldn't dare have it any other way.

[ another kiss for good measure, because they are just gross and Like This. but once they've settled back in and started making a dent in their snack pile, an idea seems to cross nikkari's mind, leading him to ask, ]

Hm... once we finish this round of desserts, would you like to accompany me to the dance floor?

[daifukus]

[ i guess they’ve played around long enough to be back on their bullshit. cuddles and kisses aw yis ]

Mmm? Of course, whatever you wish.

[ they probably need to work off all the sugar anyways. huehue ]

Haha... it would be a welcome change from our usual performances. No need to include others in our choreography, our full attention reserved for each other alone...

[ ...rather than go into any more intimate details, nikkari brings a gingerbread cookie to his mouth, smiling as he leaves the rest up to tonbo's very active imagination. ]

[ does his eyes go a little crossed thinking about it? mmmmmayhaps. a dance together for just them instead of an audience. who would have thought of such a thing. ]

It certainly will be quite a memorable occasion.

[ he says like the future tonbo will remember any of this outside of being lost in his bae's eye(s) ]

[ he just gives nikkari one of his sweetest smiles, despite the fact he steals a bite of the cookie ]

[ mirroring tonbo's grin with one of his own, he simply extends his hand, as if expecting tonbo to take it. ]

[ AND OFF THE GO, swanning off as flawlessly as only a pair of idol trained swords can. do they go for dead center? well, tonbo doesn’t but there sure is a possibility they’ll end up there anyways. for now he’s too busy making sure he can keep with the rhythm and not step on nikkari? ballroom is a whole different ballgame than stage, you guys. ]

[ though they technically do have an audience in the form of anyone looking their way, nikkari meant it when he said that they'd only be dancing for each other. as he slides one arm around tonbo's waist and drapes the other over his shoulder, his eyes are focused only on his partner, his entire body attuned to the spear's as they glide around the dance floor. ]

Haha...why are you nervous, if I am here with you?

It’s been quite some time.

[ he says like his steps don’t smooth out as they dance, the tension in his shoulders falling as the minutes tick on. perhaps he just needed an extra moment to remember himself, that even despite all his concerns as long as nikkari is in his arms it’ll all work out okay. ]

This Tonbokiri simply wished to make sure the moment was perfect.

[ with that response, nikkari slides his hand down from tonbo's shoulder to grasp his partner's hand, twining their fingers together and squeezing gently. ]

Silly... all moments I spend with this Tonbokiri are perfect.

[ look at the doofy smile tonbo gives him. absolutely terrible. he's so in doki's tonbo can't even think of anything to reply with outside of just holding him closer as the dance continues. ]
