Summer Festival in the MGU

Wherever you are, whoever you are, one minute you’re at home minding your own business and the next you’ll see a shower of sparkles before you blink and find yourself teleported elsewhere.

The elsewhere, it seems, is an open grounds lined with stalls, pathways and gardens. Lanterns light up the pathways in soft glowing oranges and pinks, and even though it’s evening the weather is warm and enjoyable for a fun summer festival.

As you set off to explore, you’ll find that there are countless stalls with every type of treat you can imagine from a variety of cultures (including some from your own home worlds, strangely), all of which smell delicious and enticing. There are other stalls available with different carnival games as well. Go ahead and give it your all! Win a prize for that special someone, or just keep trying out of sheer stubbornness. Other stalls seem to be selling wares such as clothing, household items, flowers, and other things that can be given away as gifts. It seems that every time you look around, a new stall opens, almost as if this festival is responding to your every wish.

Speaking of wishes, there’s a small cluster of bamboo trees nearby as well, tables set up with baskets of arts and crafts supplies to write your wishes on the colorful paper and tie them to a branch. It’s a sweet thought, no?

And of course, what’s a festival without fireworks? Every now and then fireworks will light up the night sky, bursts of color in fun shapes such as stars, hearts, faces of people you know, whatever! Sparklers and bubble wands can also be found to play with throughout the evening near the viewing gardens. Flowers bloom and cover the area, though the paths lead to several small alcove-like areas and gazebos for those of you who wish to have a little romantic privacy. No matter where you are though, you’ll always be able to see the starry night sky.

Do try to play along and enjoy yourself for the evening. It’s only when the last firework bursts several hours later that you can actually leave anyway. Have fun!

it's kon, actually. i have no blond kon icons so you're just going to have to use your imagination, but he's here - thankfully he's dressed like he usually did at wiwaldi, something like this for the festivities, so he's still recognizable. he's mostly walking around and enjoying the food that's popping up in stalls. but at any random carnival game you might be considering: ]

You know these are rigged? To win, you usually have to cheat the system.

This one is just annoying since the paper in the scoop will tear pretty much instantly.

Some people manage to scoop up multiple fish using one of these like some sort of freak. [ hello izumo?? ] I guess it's not that big of a deal. It's not like I had a place to keep them.

I've seen that, too. Not that I know how the hell they manage it. [ he grabs a poi, squinting down into the water as he watches her, first, waiting rather than disturbing the fish more. ] I think you're supposed to stalk them, but that means having patience. Most people don't.

Did you know they make breakfast versions of these? With sausage and pancake.

Bradley has been sneaking bites here and there like the food thief he is. ]

[ He's standing at the ring toss game when he hears that voice. There's a grin and he turns to face him. ]

Are you going to- [ Oh. That's blond. Looking it over and giving a whistle. ] Did you want to impress someone or is this how your hair normally looks outside of the game?

[ the reaction makes him grin a little lopsidedly, clearly amused, before he reaches up to run his hand through his short hair. ]

Yeah, I'm a notorious delinquent back home. [ don't just say that casually? ] Had to look the part.

I wonder what it says about me if it's delinquents I usually get along with.

[ He isn't bothered by it. He will nod at the ring toss. ]

[ he always misses the flirty banter. but he comes over next to him, picking up one of the rings. ]

Well, we'll see if the bottlenecks are all the same size or not. That's usually where this game gets players.

[You know how sometimes pets don't recognize you if you change your appearance dramatically and they approach with caution until they're close enough to smell you and then realize who you are?

Yeah, that's kind of what Lalli is doing. He's just staring cautiously as he tries to decide if this is actually Kon or just someone else who looks a lot like him. Because wow that hair dye, it's bright.]

they're just looking at each other for a moment, before kon raises his hand in a knocking motion. he's trying very hard not to laugh at the expression lalli has as he sizes him up, just kind of - vibing, waiting for him to figure it out. ]

It might be hard for anyone not familiar with him to notice the difference, but Kon especially will be able to tell when Lalli's eyes light up in recognition. That's when he immediately trots over and turns so he's standing right next to Kon.]

[He's undecided on how he feels about it so far though.]

[ that gets him to laugh, but it's warm, fond, and he bumps gently into him when lalli settles in next to him. ]

Yeah, this is what I look like outside of Amatsuki - told you I'd bleached it. [ a hand comes up in a tada, and then kon traces the very faint scar across his face, left behind from his second field trip. ] Had a few things carry over, though. Think they were probably inflicted on my real self while I was immersed in the "dream."

[Lalli has absolutely no sense of others' personal space, especially when it comes to Kon. So he's reaching up to trace that same scar with his fingers as he frowns slightly.]
