Summer Festival in the MGU

Wherever you are, whoever you are, one minute you’re at home minding your own business and the next you’ll see a shower of sparkles before you blink and find yourself teleported elsewhere.

The elsewhere, it seems, is an open grounds lined with stalls, pathways and gardens. Lanterns light up the pathways in soft glowing oranges and pinks, and even though it’s evening the weather is warm and enjoyable for a fun summer festival.

As you set off to explore, you’ll find that there are countless stalls with every type of treat you can imagine from a variety of cultures (including some from your own home worlds, strangely), all of which smell delicious and enticing. There are other stalls available with different carnival games as well. Go ahead and give it your all! Win a prize for that special someone, or just keep trying out of sheer stubbornness. Other stalls seem to be selling wares such as clothing, household items, flowers, and other things that can be given away as gifts. It seems that every time you look around, a new stall opens, almost as if this festival is responding to your every wish.

Speaking of wishes, there’s a small cluster of bamboo trees nearby as well, tables set up with baskets of arts and crafts supplies to write your wishes on the colorful paper and tie them to a branch. It’s a sweet thought, no?

And of course, what’s a festival without fireworks? Every now and then fireworks will light up the night sky, bursts of color in fun shapes such as stars, hearts, faces of people you know, whatever! Sparklers and bubble wands can also be found to play with throughout the evening near the viewing gardens. Flowers bloom and cover the area, though the paths lead to several small alcove-like areas and gazebos for those of you who wish to have a little romantic privacy. No matter where you are though, you’ll always be able to see the starry night sky.

Do try to play along and enjoy yourself for the evening. It’s only when the last firework bursts several hours later that you can actually leave anyway. Have fun!

[well. this is definitely kind of a waste of his time. he looks a little uncertain as he glances around the festival, like he's thinking of all of the things he could be doing instead. as such, he eventually shuffles himself out of the way and begins to wander by himself. he steers clear of the games for the most part because miles edgeworth hates fun, but he does loiter around the food stalls for a bit.

he's probably standing in the way? you could just tell him to move because he's busy frowning at some menu or another.]

[takes his hand and puts a churro in it.]

If you keep frowning like that, your face is going to get stuck. Oh wait! It already did. [hello, did you miss her]

[well now he's squinting and he has a churro! but he seems appeased by it seeing how he takes a bite and chews thoughtfully.]

Humorous as always, Lup. [this is said in a tone that seems to say he was half-tempted to call her miss lup as punishment. instead, he does the opposite of that and offers her the chuuro to take a bite, too.] You wouldn't happen to know why we've been called here, do you?

[she casually leans against him because she's a gremlin with no sense of personal space.]

Not a ding-dang clue. But I have all my magic, so at least there's that! [hums...] I'm glad to see you, though.

[weirdly, he lets her. wow. it's like he likes her or something.]

...you as well. [it's said quietly like he's not sure he wants to say so, but that it should be said anyhow.] If you have all of your magic then I suppose we aren't actually in any danger this time. Though I can't quite figure out what the point of this festival is.

[gross, affection.]

I think it's supposed to be fun? Do you know what that is?

[he takes the churro and there's a very pointed bite as he stares her dead in the eye.]

I can't say I do. Never heard of it. [lup please.]

Thought so. That makes it my job to drag you along for adventures.

[she's a brat, which is why when he's pulled away from his bite, she leans in and also takes a bite of his churro.

and then takes his free hand! come along, miles.]

[him churro!! never mind that he's the one who initially offered it back to her, it's now the principle of the matter!!

...but she can have his free hand and he dutifully follows after her without much of an argument.]

Only if you feel you're up for the task. I've heard it's quite daunting.

[ She nudges him a little with her riding crop. ]

[there she is, the perfect girl. which is to say he does look briefly mollified by this! or maybe it's whip trauma from franziska, it's hard to say.]

[he says this like he had any say in the matter, but sometimes you just pretend everything was done on purpose rather than someone getting the jump on you.]

[ Yeah, she won't admit to someone getting the jump on her either, so this is fine. ]

Live a little more. Relax like the world isn't ending because your face isn't immersed in boring paperwork. Come on. Pick something to eat. Walk around with me.

[ He doesn't get to say no. ]

[he is very well aware that even if he wanted to say no to medb he wouldn't get to? she's just like this? so with that said he does sigh like he's actually making a sacrifice before he shrugs, shaking his head slowly.]

If I must. [though...hm.] It's been some time since I've been to something like this. It's bigger than I anticipated.

[that is to say he's a little overwhelmed because wow. this is a lot? this is a lot.]

That's because you don't know what work-life balance is. This is normal enough to me.

[ It could be bigger is what she's saying because she likes things larger than life. ]

[this is why medb is valid and also one of his favorites. he appreciates a woman who knows what she wants, but he does look a little annoyed for a hot second.]

I know what work-life balance is just fine, thank you. [it's just that he doesn't have a life besides work. clearly this makes sense.]

If it's because your life is your work, you're going to have to win me at least five stuffed animals.

[ She knows his type. ]

I find that to be an incredibly insulting assumption, first of all, and secondly...I can't promise to be any good at these games so you may find yourself disappointed.

[also he's mad because she's right leave him alone. however, because it's medb:]

[ Well, that's pretty much admitting she's right, so.... ]

[he knows how medb is? but it's fine, he will concede.]

She looks around and then points at the milk bottle toss. ]

Generous of you. [the thing about it is that miles isn't exactly athletic, but he figures he can probably throw a ball and knock over a few bottles? that's easy enough. any moron can throw a ball, but it does mean he pauses to size up the bottles themselves.]

Fine then. [he will get three whole baseballs and immediately throw the first!!...as it clips the top of the stack and the bottles stay standing.]

--you saw that, didn't you? The bottle was hit. [and now he just sounds annoyed.]

[ She laughs. Edgeworth really does humor too much, and she keeps on taking advantage of it. ]

My generosity is vast, and I saw capitalism at work.

[ These games are as corrupt as his court of law. ]

[everyone miles has ever cared about has been extremely forceful and strongwilled and medb fits right in that category. he just has to pretend that he's put off by it, mostly. he's not sure if he is or isn't surprised she understands the concept of capitalism as applied to cheap carnival games, but he does look significantly more annoyed as he tries again.

I suppose they think it's clever to glue the stack together instead of allowing a fair trade?

[ Medb does not seem surprised by this rigged game at all. She knows Miles is more of a nerd than a jock, but she's sure he can find a way to get her a prize. ]

[ Is she serious? Medb continues to look amused, serious or not. ]

[she may not be serious, but judging by the look on his face he truly is out here thinking of the merits of suing this interdimensional festival for false advertising and if he would win that case.]

I suppose there are enough witnesses to their crimes that a solid case could be built...

[but he throws another ball and the top milk bottle finally topples over.]
