Wherever you are, whoever you are, you'll likely find yourself blinking one moment and teleporting in a flurry of snowflakes the next. Luckily for you, there's no murder this time! (Probably.)

Rather, you'll hear Christmas carols aplenty as you approach a winter castle, snow lightly falling and various paths leading to gardens filled with still-blooming flowers (how.) and lit topiary displays.

Upon entering the castle, you'll find it's brightly lit and decorated...welcome to the party! Frost lightly dusts the walls and some nearby surfaces and guests will find there are halls and floors aplenty to explore. There are rooms filled with plush chairs and fireplaces for those looking for something cozier, rooms filled with all kinds of games and toys, and naturally there's a large ballroom prime for dancing. Spread through you'll find tables of snacks, full-course meals, drinks, desserts, and even champagne towers. Are you looking for something specific? Simply ask a member of the staff. Watch your step though! Their assistants really are doing their best to help, and the jingling bell may be too faint to hear if you aren't paying attention.

It seems as though you've all been invited to a wonderful holiday party for no reason at all...but there is one thing amiss...or, should I say...amistletoe?

Pinned up on every doorway is a sprig of fresh mistletoe, decorated with bright red bows and dustings of frost. And sure, perhaps it's easy just to avoid the doorways if you want to be a spoilsport. But should you avoid it for too long, it will seem as though the mistletoe is following you, almost as if some asshole is hiding out and purposefully trailing behind to keep it dangling over your head.

Oh. And did I mention you can't leave the castle grounds until you play along? Pucker up.

[ he sighs like he's not about to nom the dessert in one bite, humming in delight at the flavor. om nom. at least he remembers to pass up a second one so nikkari can taste ]

[ oh... yay... he gladly accepts the treat when tonbo hands it over. as he enjoys it, he scans the table and points at a yule log cake. festive...! ]

Mm, perhaps we could share one of those cakes? As much as the both of us like sweets, I doubt we'd each be able to finish a whole one on our own.

Even from up here, I can clearly see how thick it is. Being a cake, I have to imagine it must be mouthwateringly moist, too...

[ it really says a lot tonbo doesn't even bat an eyelash at nikkari just huehuehue'ing above him like this. though, it's probably only because with tonbo still being sword uber (swuber) means he can quite literally walk his gremlin away from the table. come, beloved. let us eat cake without you scandalizing the bitties ]

[ he has no choice but to be along for the ride! not that he'd go anywhere without tonbo to begin with... it's fine. whenever they get to a suitable place for cake consumption, he gently pats the top of tonbo's head. ]

Unless you'd like to tire your arms out in order to reach up and feed me, you should probably let me down.

[ tonbo snorts out quiet noise, humming thoughtfully. one wonders! ]

It certainly would be quite the attempt to try.

[ it feels like it'd be a feat of skill to shove cake at him without just ending it everywhere. but no, nikkari will get gently deposited onto a couch somewhere they can still watch the ongoing chaos while enjoying their treat. ]

But unfortunately, I would rather enjoy it with you than at you.

As would I... not that that really needs to be said.

[ it's straight up ridiculous how practiced the motion is as nikkari slides down from tonbo's shoulders and onto the couch. at first, it seems like he's on his best behavior, patiently waiting for his partner to plop down next to him... but, uh, as soon as that happens, he turns to face tonbo with his mouth open, wide and expectant. ]

[ it also says a lot that tonbo was 100% expecting this and already was in the process of forking off a piece to place in Nikkari's mouth to distract him from being more chaotic while he settles in. #married. ]

[ at the very least, he does seem to genuinely enjoy the cake! he is indeed very weak to desserts... ]

Mm... it's very sweet, as expected...

[ here he licks his lips—to take care of some errant crumbs, of course—as the edges of his mouth pull upward and his eyes narrow. ]

But, ah. I can think of something even sweeter.

Oh....? Even sweeter than this?

[ i'm pretending this particular yule log has one of those decorative mistletoes on it so tonbo holding the plate up right now means the kiss tonbo goes for totally counts. ]

[ there he go!! nikkari hums happily, almost dreamily into the kiss, and even though he's well aware that they're out here in front of xie lian and everyone, he slowly starts to part his lips to tease tonbo's with his tongue... but then, he stops and pulls back, grinning like he's the most innocent soul in the world. ]

Haha... it seems as though even our thoughts have become one. I'm quite proud of how far you've come, Tonbo-kun.

[ i hate Tonbo's just leaning into the kiss like he momentarily forgot they were surrounded by others. YET ALAS, Nikkari is pulling away and he's pouting before he remembers himself and his ears pinken. ]

We've certainly had plenty of time to strengthen our bond.


[ that's one way to describe 'making out like teenagers all over the citadel' ]

[ his big ol' cutie... nikkari scoots in closer to better cuddle up into tonbo's side, reaching a hand up to tuck some hair behind one of the yari's red ears... but then he playfully pinches it. because he's mean. ]

Fair enough. As much as I enjoy the idea of having an audience sometimes... things of that nature are ultimately meant to stay behind closed doors.

[ finally giving tonbo's poor ear a reprieve, nikkari now trails the offending hand down the side of tonbo's face, looping a stray strand of magenta hair around his finger like it's a ring. ]

Now, I believe we were in the middle of something, weren't we...?

[ they have collectively only taken like one bite of this fucking cake ]

I haven't even gotten to taste the dessert yet.

[ okay, he actually wasn't expecting this turn of events, so he lets out a little yelp of surprise before he has to pull back and take a breath or two. this is most definitely a win for tonbo, though, judging by the earnest way nikkari laughs as his face lights up. ]

—Tonbo-kun! Goodness, hahaha... I'm afraid I'm not on the menu tonight.

[ he then wrestles the fork out of tonbo's hand. his turn to feed the cutie! ]

Hopefully this will sate your appetite until we return home.

[ uwu he one upped his boy. tonbo has leveled up! he's just grinning a little now. and though he doesn't say anything out loud, the twinkle in his eye sure gives him away ]

It's quite a good cake. We'll have to tell Shokudaikiri-dono about it when we return.

...knowing our comrades, I think the wiser choice would be to simply make several smaller cakes. This may be a rare scenario in which bigger isn't necessarily better...

I suppose that is true. Far easier as well to make as well than figuring out the need of creating a single massive creation.
