Jingle Mingle...2

Some of you may be used to this by now. For some of you, this may be your very first time being swept away in a flurry of snowflakes. (Though some of you may have been particularly naughty and were shoved into a burlap sack before disappearing into the storm.) As usual, it seems as though the time for bloodshed has passed and when you open your eyes you're greeted with...

...a ski lodge.

Worry not! This isn't the lodge Krampus had taken residence in but it's a rather large and cozy getaway. You may even find that your clothes have changed into something holiday-appropriate for the occasion. It seems as though someone has gone around decking the halls with boughs of holly, lights strewn along the walls, Christmas trees in large corners, and plenty of food and drink to go around. (Yes, this includes alcohol. Please do try to be responsible though, hm?)

Similarly, some of you may recognize the frosty patterns that lightly dust the walls and surfaces and the usual staff and their assistants are back in action. Should you require anything, you may ask one of them and they'll be at your service!

The lodge has plenty of rooms filled with furniture, fireplaces, games and more. And for those of you feeling a little more adventurous, you may venture outdoors. To the left there's a sprawling garden with gazebos, firepits, flowers and lit topiary displays. To the right, you may follow the path down to a hot spring. And straight ahead? There's the path leading you right to a rental shack holding skis, snowboards and snow mobiles.

This almost seems...quaint, doesn't it? And perhaps it's a little too easy, but you should know by now everything comes with a price.

Sprigs of mistletoe are pinned up in every doorway once again, bright red bows and dustings of frost lingering around them. Don't try to escape to the outdoors to avoid it! Ice sculptures appear in every direction each decorated with the mystical plant. You could try to avoid it, really, but avoiding it too long will earn a chilly breath of air directly in your ear as you're pushed straight into the nearest person. Wouldn't you rather choose on your own?

Well! The choice is yours, and you might want to make it fast. There's no way out without paying the kiss tax, after all.

Likely, one of those cute creatures would have spilled something on me. Ah, or I might have dropped all of my food on the floor, or they would have run out of something I was looking forward to eating within minutes.

You realize that is only slightly reassuring, right?

In any case, what do you make of ... all this?

Well... as far as I can make out, it is a different situation than the Realm. My spiritual energy is unaffected.

[ since he actually has that now. he turns his palm over and summons a little spiritual torch, a flame that sits in his hand. ] And Ruoye is unaffected as well. It leads me to believe we ought to be alright.

...Perhaps a kinder spirit thought we all needed a chance to reunite. [ with a smile! ] I hope that is the case.

They likely would have done something about me too, if it really were something like the Realm.

[ whoops about that little witchy haze of dreamy unreality that kind of just follows her around, it keeps her looking normal and not attention-catching in a crowd like this. xie lian's probably used to resentful energy, it's fine. ]

If we really wanted to reunite, I feel that we could have done it on our own ... Not that I am not glad to see you again, though.

[ he is very used to this, yeah! and even if he wasn't, it wouldn't bother him at all. even the bones and flowers bit doesn't bother him, so. xie lian smiles, serene, and nods his head. ]

... That is true. But, even so... I think we ought to take the good moments we have, as we have them. It's always the little things, no?

They say this season is supposed to be a time of spreading happiness... I suppose the timing of this gathering does make sense.

[ although, not all of them here are couples, so why is there so much mistletoe. ]

[ he is the wrong person to ask that question of. alas. ]

Mm. [ though that would be new years to him! but, any time is a good time to be happy, so. xie lian turns to her proper, and that smile grows. ]

In that case, then - I am very, very happy to see you, Miss Homura. Truly.

[ oh definitely new years is the time for actual like, family gatherings and coming together. but hey, commercialized christmas in japan.

... It is good to see you too, Xie Lian-san. I'm told that something like this has happened before...?

he nods!! ] En, I think - last year, somewhat around the same time? I ended up in this place once before. We were able to leave after a little while without any fuss. So, perhaps, it is truly just the whims of something far more benevolent than what we've faced in the Realm.

... Benevolent, perhaps, but still, I'm not sure I like that this sort of thing appears to be so commonplace, if there are so many I do not recognize here...

They did not all go through the same experiences we did, did they?

[ maybe whatever being collected all of them here for a christmas party didn't necessarily grab mg alumni but just random people who happened to include mg alumni? no? wishful thinking? ]

And, mm... have you been well in the past year? I imagine much might or might not have happened in that time.
