Jingle Mingle...2

Some of you may be used to this by now. For some of you, this may be your very first time being swept away in a flurry of snowflakes. (Though some of you may have been particularly naughty and were shoved into a burlap sack before disappearing into the storm.) As usual, it seems as though the time for bloodshed has passed and when you open your eyes you're greeted with...

...a ski lodge.

Worry not! This isn't the lodge Krampus had taken residence in but it's a rather large and cozy getaway. You may even find that your clothes have changed into something holiday-appropriate for the occasion. It seems as though someone has gone around decking the halls with boughs of holly, lights strewn along the walls, Christmas trees in large corners, and plenty of food and drink to go around. (Yes, this includes alcohol. Please do try to be responsible though, hm?)

Similarly, some of you may recognize the frosty patterns that lightly dust the walls and surfaces and the usual staff and their assistants are back in action. Should you require anything, you may ask one of them and they'll be at your service!

The lodge has plenty of rooms filled with furniture, fireplaces, games and more. And for those of you feeling a little more adventurous, you may venture outdoors. To the left there's a sprawling garden with gazebos, firepits, flowers and lit topiary displays. To the right, you may follow the path down to a hot spring. And straight ahead? There's the path leading you right to a rental shack holding skis, snowboards and snow mobiles.

This almost seems...quaint, doesn't it? And perhaps it's a little too easy, but you should know by now everything comes with a price.

Sprigs of mistletoe are pinned up in every doorway once again, bright red bows and dustings of frost lingering around them. Don't try to escape to the outdoors to avoid it! Ice sculptures appear in every direction each decorated with the mystical plant. You could try to avoid it, really, but avoiding it too long will earn a chilly breath of air directly in your ear as you're pushed straight into the nearest person. Wouldn't you rather choose on your own?

Well! The choice is yours, and you might want to make it fast. There's no way out without paying the kiss tax, after all.

It is certainly nice for the chance to see so many familiar faces, and the food seems to be plenty.

[ so, that's a yes!! xie lian watches this creature starting to slide - after a moment, a strip of fabric looses from xie lian's wrist and hovers in the air like it's preparing to catch the poor creature. ]

Though - I confess, I don't have the faintest idea of what "Christmas" is... if it's a holiday to celebrate, though, then, it seems like it might be a nice one.

[Rin won't think much of it, since the Xie Lian he knows is good enough friends to touch Rinkou anyway. She's getting closer to the edge but she's not quite there yet.]

Really? Man, I gotta tell you all about it then! It's only the most important holiday of the year.

[He is absolutely saying that because of how close it is to his birthday.]

Is that so? My goodness - even moreso than the New Year?

[ !!! what an important holiday this must be!!

ruoye is like a catcher ready to receive a pitch at this point! steady, steady.... ]

Hmm...Well, there's a couplea New Years out there, depending on the calendar you use. Depends on the New Year, I guess.

...but anyway! Christmas is important because you get to dress up like Santa and give gifts to other people!

[And there goes Rinkou, slipping off the roof and right into that catch. At the same time, Rin will jump down from the roof and land in the snow near Xie Lian. His tail is out right now so it helps him stay balanced as he jumps down.]

[dianxias]

[ he understood like three words of that sentence ]

I see!

[ he doesn't. luckily, as rinkou slips, ruoye winds right around her middle to catch her and safely bring her down to the ground. xie lian watches this, surpised. ]

...Is...your familiar alright?

[aono]

[He sees that blank look, and he's about to explain, but then Xie Lian says 'familiar' and suddenly things aren't so okay.]

Of course she's fine, you already know Rinkou's a tough daemon. And I'd trust you to take care of her anyway.

...you DO know that she's a tough daemon, right? Xie Lian? ...gege?

[It's not a nickname he often uses for Xie Lian, but he's trying to get the familiarity across without using the full flowery title he always used as a joke.]

[ surprise flickers across xie lian's face - and then, understanding, as ruoye gently sets rinkou down on her feet. he doesn't know what a daemon is - nor who this child is who is calling him gege - but... he looks a little familiar, and, xie lian can put together two and two. ]

... Another version of myself, then...? [ quietly, to himself - and then, after a moment; ] ... I'm afraid I do not. But, from what I have learned from the others here, that is not so uncommon of an experience. Please, don't fret - to give such a nickname, surely, I promise you I would not have forgotten it. There must be another.

[Me, wondering if Xie Lian is comparing him to Hua Cheng, before remembering that Rin actually does look vaguely like Shiro. Especially since his hair is white right now.

He also looks kind of disappointed, because Xie Lian is one of his favorites and even if this Xie Lian is polite he still doesn't remember him :c]

I shoulda guessed that, I already saw Shima here and he definitely wasn't with the group of us. But hey, I guess that means you could run into another-you here. The other you has a daemon too, so that could be how we tell the two of you apart.

[dianxias]

[ daemon... xie lian looks to rinkou again. ruoye is wriggling a little bit in front of her, like it's trying to say hello. the elder version of xie lian has a small smile for rin when he looks so disappointed, apologetic, but he can at least provide an explanation. ]

...Shima was with my group, yes. [ that little goblin ] Actually - I believe it was himself and someone he knew, from the same realm... though, not yourself. Were you the only one from your Realm, young man?

[aono]

[It's all good! Rinkou seems find, and she's making some kind of wolverine chattering noise. Despite being an animal with a reputation for being nasty and mean, she's surprisingly complacent and friendly. Likewise, Rin might look a bit imposing- he does have little horn nubbins and a long white tail, after all- but he practically exudes friendliness.]

Yeah? Who was it? One of our classmates?

[Maybe Bon or Koneko, since they're his childhood friends and all.]

I was with my twin brother Yukio, but it was just the two of us there. Everyone else was from different worlds. Or like...different from us. There were a couple people there from the same world as you, and some others shared worlds too.

[dianxias]

[ he says “my twin, yukio” and something just clicks. ]

…Oh! You’re Rin! There were - ah, there were two others, a young lady, and then — goodness! You’re Shiro’s son, aren’t you!

[aono]

[He's about to ask which young lady, and then more questions about if she survived, but then he hears 'Shiro' and everything else immediately gets thrown out the window because this is way more important.]

You know my dad? ...Dad was in a murder-thing???

[ xie lian will absolutely not be telling rin that shiro died

instead, he just brightens, immediately, nodding. ] I do! Your father is a very good man - we were very good friends, [ somewhere shiro gets put in the friendzone YET AGAIN ] and I felt lucky to be blessed with his companionship in such times of strife and trouble.
