Some of you may be used to this by now. For some of you, this may be your very first time being swept away in a flurry of snowflakes. (Though some of you may have been particularly naughty and were shoved into a burlap sack before disappearing into the storm.) As usual, it seems as though the time for bloodshed has passed and when you open your eyes you're greeted with...

...a ski lodge.

Worry not! This isn't the lodge Krampus had taken residence in but it's a rather large and cozy getaway. You may even find that your clothes have changed into something holiday-appropriate for the occasion. It seems as though someone has gone around decking the halls with boughs of holly, lights strewn along the walls, Christmas trees in large corners, and plenty of food and drink to go around. (Yes, this includes alcohol. Please do try to be responsible though, hm?)

Similarly, some of you may recognize the frosty patterns that lightly dust the walls and surfaces and the usual staff and their assistants are back in action. Should you require anything, you may ask one of them and they'll be at your service!

The lodge has plenty of rooms filled with furniture, fireplaces, games and more. And for those of you feeling a little more adventurous, you may venture outdoors. To the left there's a sprawling garden with gazebos, firepits, flowers and lit topiary displays. To the right, you may follow the path down to a hot spring. And straight ahead? There's the path leading you right to a rental shack holding skis, snowboards and snow mobiles.

This almost seems...quaint, doesn't it? And perhaps it's a little too easy, but you should know by now everything comes with a price.

Sprigs of mistletoe are pinned up in every doorway once again, bright red bows and dustings of frost lingering around them. Don't try to escape to the outdoors to avoid it! Ice sculptures appear in every direction each decorated with the mystical plant. You could try to avoid it, really, but avoiding it too long will earn a chilly breath of air directly in your ear as you're pushed straight into the nearest person. Wouldn't you rather choose on your own?

Well! The choice is yours, and you might want to make it fast. There's no way out without paying the kiss tax, after all.

At least a few weeks, I'm sure. Possibly longer... I just finished collecting some information, actually, so Her Majesty is waiting on my reports anyway. It shouldn't be a problem to take a little vacation until we're ready to move again.

[Sometimes your shitty coworker family explodes in drama and one of them decides to become god and goes AWOL or whatever... it's fine. He might not make it to her next birthday but he probably won't get permashanked before New Year's.

More importantly, to the hot chocolate! To Tsuru's hot chocolate mug tower?? Either one.]

Ahaha, of course! We'd have to live underground if it didn't. The summers are quite lovely, actually--though they'd probably still seem like winters to some of you!

Then I'll tell my mom and text you. You can stay with us for a little while! I'm sure Date will wanna talk to you anyway. [what the FUCK is going on in genshin. they should definitely go to the hot chocolate tower because she will be very impressed. she could also absolutely walk on her own but if childe's going to keep carrying her she's not complaining.]

I'll have to come see the summers sometime...but you have to come to Tokyo first! Then you'll see exactly what I'm talking about.

Though now I'm picturing her dragging him off to dress in modern clothes and laughing

ANYWAY. Hmmm. Leaning forward to peer into them and confirm that they are in fact all full of hot chocolate...

[iris just collects multiple questionable friends and parents and nothing changes as she makes him change and show up like this.

And it would be so much simpler if he just put her down but why would he do things the easy way]

Go ahead and climb up onto my shoulders. I've got you. [Given how tall he is,, from there she won't have too much trouble grabbing a cup or two from the top of the tower, so it shouldn't cause a major catastrophe... probably......]

[stop this. anyway when have either of them taking the easy way out? she looks concerned for, like, a millisecond because she's still wearing heels but she figures childe can handle it.]

Okay...don't drop me! [so yeah. he's tall and she's got a height advantage which means she's crawling up carefully to stand on his shoulders, grabbing two mugs from the very top.] These smell delicious.

[good job, guys. now how are you going to get her down? she does not have two hands to actually climb back off of his shoulders.]

[And honestly he's strong enough to easily keep her steady, so getting the mugs is the easy part!



...Ah, yeah. Now what. Hmmmm.]

Let's find somewhere a bit safer to set those down. [Like a bookshelf or something; as long as it's not stacked on other mugs of steaming hot liquid then they'll be okay. Why didn't they just go find a ladder]

[there's a squeak of surprise but she doesn't move at least! also wow, yeah, imagine that. she doesn't reply even if there's a grin, but she's holding the cups steady as they begin walking off.

wouldn't it be deserved if i made her bonk into a chandelier. but they make it across the room at least...]

What about there? [she seems to be looking at what looks like a leaning ladder shelf thing.]

[It would absolutely be deserved, they are both gremlins and they would deserve it!! Tragically they are probably being given an extremely wide berth right now, given that most people don't want hot chocolate spilled on them...]

Hm? [He can't really see what she's looking at, and it would be very funny if he just walked off towards something else--but no, he's smart enough to figure it out. OVER TO THE LADDER. They are probably stressing out the penguins so much.]

[i cannot blame anyone for getting out of the way. there they go, wandering through the lodge with iris balancing two hot cups of cocoa and trying not to fall right off of childe's shoulders. to the ladder!! where she sets the mugs onto a shelf just slightly above childe's head as penguins honk in distress and waddle underfoot.]

Watch your step. But that should be good! [which means she's absolutely jumping down. hopefully his reflexes are good.]

[WHY IS SHE LIKE THIS. Fortunately they're good, yes, and even if they weren't he got practice at the station from Medb doing basically the same thing. He even laughs as he catches her, setting her down on her feet before he puts a hand on his hip, turning to frown at their guests.]

You're not helping, you know. You could've tripped us. [He's scolding the penguins. This man is a dangerous criminal.]

[sometimes you're just out here doing your best? also sometimes you are spoiled and know people won't drop you, so there's a laugh of delight as she drops straight into his arms before standing on her own two feet and reaching to grab the mugs.

the penguins honk menacingly like they're scolding right back.]

You have to give them a little bit of a break. They can't move as fast as you and me.

[LISTEN sometimes he can be the rules parent!!! But why would he do that when he's around to deal with any problems himself? So it's fine? (That's not how it works Childe)]

They should've thought of that before they brought us here, no? [But he's grinning; he doesn't actually think they were kidnapped by penguins. He waves a hand at them.] Go on, go on, we're fine.

[The really hilarious thing is that he'll probably stick around and help with cleanup after this party like the domestic housewife he is 50% of the time]

Aw...I'm sure they're innocent in all of this! Probably. [it's entirely possible she does actually think they have something to do with this. alien penguins. but there's another indignant honk as the penguins take their trays and begin to wander off, leaving iris to hand childe one of the cups.]

It should still be warm.

[ALIEN PENGUINS. Does Childe even know what a penguin is? Probably not, but he's just accepting this for now.]

The sharks in the tornado were innocent too, but they were still dangerous! [WHY IS SHARKNADO THE MOVIE HE REMEMBERS BEST. He's just joking, though; he sits down in a nearby chair with his hot chocolate, taking a sip of it experimentally. Through the magic of rp it is in fact still warm.]

[why are there whales in genshin but not penguins i demand answers. anyway, she makes a face at sharknado because:]

[she settles with her own mug after coming off of her wildlife soapboax, blowing on the drink before taking a sip.]

[Childe has more respect for nature than he does for like 80% of humanity tbh.

I'm not very picky about these things, you know--but it's good. Teucer likes similar things! He only wants to eat sweets these days.

And I know you're not foolish. [it's...fine...] It's a good treat! It's not too sweet, but it's just enough to be satisfying. When's the last time you got to see him anyway?
