Jingle Mingle...2

Some of you may be used to this by now. For some of you, this may be your very first time being swept away in a flurry of snowflakes. (Though some of you may have been particularly naughty and were shoved into a burlap sack before disappearing into the storm.) As usual, it seems as though the time for bloodshed has passed and when you open your eyes you're greeted with...

...a ski lodge.

Worry not! This isn't the lodge Krampus had taken residence in but it's a rather large and cozy getaway. You may even find that your clothes have changed into something holiday-appropriate for the occasion. It seems as though someone has gone around decking the halls with boughs of holly, lights strewn along the walls, Christmas trees in large corners, and plenty of food and drink to go around. (Yes, this includes alcohol. Please do try to be responsible though, hm?)

Similarly, some of you may recognize the frosty patterns that lightly dust the walls and surfaces and the usual staff and their assistants are back in action. Should you require anything, you may ask one of them and they'll be at your service!

The lodge has plenty of rooms filled with furniture, fireplaces, games and more. And for those of you feeling a little more adventurous, you may venture outdoors. To the left there's a sprawling garden with gazebos, firepits, flowers and lit topiary displays. To the right, you may follow the path down to a hot spring. And straight ahead? There's the path leading you right to a rental shack holding skis, snowboards and snow mobiles.

This almost seems...quaint, doesn't it? And perhaps it's a little too easy, but you should know by now everything comes with a price.

Sprigs of mistletoe are pinned up in every doorway once again, bright red bows and dustings of frost lingering around them. Don't try to escape to the outdoors to avoid it! Ice sculptures appear in every direction each decorated with the mystical plant. You could try to avoid it, really, but avoiding it too long will earn a chilly breath of air directly in your ear as you're pushed straight into the nearest person. Wouldn't you rather choose on your own?

Well! The choice is yours, and you might want to make it fast. There's no way out without paying the kiss tax, after all.

[she hums, before instantly yanking sora down into the snow with her. perish.]

[should've known. there's a loud yell and he's immediately eating shit and hitting the snow before sitting up with a shiver.]

This isn't how revival works, Lup!

[she laughs, and immediately ruffles his hair. she will let him sit up, but like, she's just gonna melt the snow around them.]

Says who! Have you ever cast a spell to bring someone back to life? I don't think so! [don't just assume these things lup]

[mom!! he leans into the hair ruffles even while he's laughing and pretending to bat her hand away. he is fooling no one. goodbye snow.]

Weeeell, it wasn't a spell, but...[he. he did bring back a whole bunch of people. but he doesn't linger on that and instead takes the easy route instead of talking about things.] Okay, okay. I guess you're still the best wizard I know.

You delightful little suck-up, you. This is why you're my favorite. [she teases, grinning at him.] But that's right. I am the best wizard you know.

[she taps his nose with her finger.] What are you getting up to out here? Just snowmen?

[he does enjoy being the favorite so he beams instead. thank you for understanding.]

Just snowmen! But I was thinking of going up the mountain and seeing if I can snowboard. Since you're here though...you probably wanna head back inside, huh?

[he knows lup is constant-cold and he would abandon just about anything to spend time with her.]

[she is freezing.]

You can snowboard with your friends later. It's Lup time. [agreed. she pulls herself to her feet, and offers her hands out to him this time. up we go. if sora pulls her into the snow she's disowning him.]

Come shake these birds upside down for drinks with me. I won't tell anybody if you get just a teensy bit tipsy.

[he would absolutely do that on a normal day!! but...it's lup time and it's been a while since he's seen her. so yeah, he will take her hands and bounce straight to his feet, not quite letting go before he starts to drag her back toward the lodge.]

You could just ask them nicely. They're pretty easy to talk to. [sora may or may not have already befriended several of the penguins, but there's a sneaky little grin.] Only a little though.

[terrible influence, but it's okay.]

[she does not seem to mind him holding her hands, or even just one hand. he can drag her wherever, she's just pleased to be here.]

I don't do nicely. [she hums, swinging their hands a bit.] You can do all the talking, then, so I get a drink, and not pecked to death.

[and then she squeezes his hand, and:] Hooow are we doing today?

[how's things! her mom senses.]

[handholding is important! so he will keep holding her hand as they go inside.]

That's true. [casually. he knows lup is rude and he accepts this.] Leave it to me!

[once they're inside though, he's ordering two eggnogs for them to take while seeking out a couch by a fireplace. that question though....hah!]

I guess...I'm okay? [questionably. but he's cheerful enough because everything in his brain isn't important right now.] Nothing's really changed yet, but that's okay. How are youuuu?

[yeah. flip this around on mom. also he's curious! he wants to make sure lup is okay!]

[she will flop down onto the couch near the fireplace and probably sprawl all over him. sucks to be him, he has to deal with gross mom cuddles.

she also takes that in stride, because she knows things Aren't okay but like. they're safe for right now, so.]

Hmm, fine, mostly. Things are happening! As they often do! [she stretches, lazily.] This is such a weird place. Did you know there was a version of me in space once? Wild.

[oh no....mom cuddles...what ever will he do. but she can sprawl and he's immediately cuddling up into her to let her leech bodyheat because lup literally has never learned and sora will always indulge her.]

Things are always happening. [he says around sipping his eggnog. hm. weird taste, but it's okay.] What does that even mean? A space version...like a martian?

[it is a weird taste, yeah. she's enjoying hers, though, stealing all of sora's warmth.]

Mmhm, you nailed it. Right on the head. There's a version of me with little green antenna and an obsession with claw machines running around here.

[god, i fucking hate it here because:]

Oh you've met those guys, too? [yeah. but teasing aside he seems to consider that.] It's weird...I guess it's possible. People seem to show up in these games but they aren't always from the same time you remember them. You and Taako were from two points in time, so I guess maybe the space you was different, too.

[he stares at his cup thoughtfully.] There's been a lot of new people lately.

[me like oh right sora fuckin knows a toy story]

Time is wibbly wobbly, and it is a pain in the ass. It just makes me wonder how many versions of me or Taako are going to show up in these things. [like, at least one more, lup] ... You're right, though. Seems like there was a huge influx this time.

Not sure what to think about that.

Maybe more than we want to know, but they're all still you. Even if I like this version of you best. [das his. still, he contemplates his next sentence. ]

There were more games after ours. Nothing's changed. People are still getting dragged into these things. [... ] Were you there last time? The summer festival.

[she is immensely pleased by this favoritism. so much so that she noogies him a bit. it's more like a hair ruffle slash pet, but hey.]

They seem to be doing okay. Getting out of them fine. Don't go getting any ideas. [a beat.] Yeah, I was there. Ran into some dork lord with a monocle who tried to hit on me and then practically, uh, ascended, when I told him I had no idea who he was.

Why?

I'm not getting ideas! [as usual lup is allowed to do whatever the hell she wants forever. especially since he's leaning into the touch. there's a brief moment that he looks a little baffled because, like, why but he figured it's because of the whole space thing. there's a concerned sort of frown as he debates if he has to track down a nerd to lightly bully before he remembers what he was talking about. or, rather, he gets to the point.

I uh. Ran into Riku, actually. [and here, he's run into namine who told him about a bunch of other khs being in murder but he doesn't mention that since he hasn't gone into length about them with her. ] So that was a surprise.

Uh huh, that's what you want me to think, hero boy! [MORE NOOGIES. but then she stops bullying him for the moment to sort of rearrange herself on the couch here. she tugs at sora so she can fuss at him, wrapping her arms around him in a sort of protective way.]

... Oh. Jeeze. [smooth response there.] Yeah, I mean uh - I talked to him a bit. That kid has some big soulful sad eyes just like you, it's nuts.

... He's okay, though. His game went okay.

I'm not! I said I'd try to promise you I'd be more careful in the future. This is me being careful! [there's a slight squawk as she's messing with his hair but he's squirming his way closer to lean against her, doing his best not to knock over their drinks while getting in maximum affection.

but yeah. jeez is right. ]

He's been like that lately. [breezily.] But I know...he told me. He was a leader kind of like our leaders except it was for a dorm at a school. They all got out okay. He made friends and he's got two boyfriends and everything.

[so it could have been worse, maybe. ] But he's also about a year and a half behind me. Maybe two. It's weird knowing there are more games out there, but it's even weirder when you know people you know are involved. [because even if his friends got out okay they still went through terrible things and that sucks when his entire purpose was to save them.]

[this is him being careful... yeesh. she absently pets his hair with one hand as she listens.]

Oh. Shit. Poor little dude. [leading the damn thing sounds awful! ha ha!] Yeah, it's weird when you have been in a few and you don't remember half of them! Or uh, your friends are definitely traumatized by having seen you die in some horrible field trip bull - not that uh, not that that's happened... to me or anything.

[sweats.]

Yeah. [he knows! terrible! especially given riku's time period, sora's aware that this wasn't the greatest option for his friend. but then again, he's listening to what lup says and he's frowning in thought.]

...try saying that again but make it more convincing this time. [jeez.] More of your friends were in these things, too?

[scritch scritch his scalp, gently.]

Oh, uh. Yeah. Last time I was at one of these I talked to my friend Lucretia? I think I mentioned her. Maybe. Actually, fuck, uh - maybe not! She was... one of the first people I forgot.

[a pause, and then:] She was at that same school Riku was at.

[at least the scalp scritches are getting him to relax further.]

From the crew you were traveling with, right? [he remembers all of the things lup's ever forgotten because he made that promise to hold them for her, but now he looks mildly concerned again.]

I wonder if she was in his dorm. I know school's not great but a murder school really isn't the first thing I'd think of. [...] Was she okay?
