Jingle Mingle...2

Some of you may be used to this by now. For some of you, this may be your very first time being swept away in a flurry of snowflakes. (Though some of you may have been particularly naughty and were shoved into a burlap sack before disappearing into the storm.) As usual, it seems as though the time for bloodshed has passed and when you open your eyes you're greeted with...

...a ski lodge.

Worry not! This isn't the lodge Krampus had taken residence in but it's a rather large and cozy getaway. You may even find that your clothes have changed into something holiday-appropriate for the occasion. It seems as though someone has gone around decking the halls with boughs of holly, lights strewn along the walls, Christmas trees in large corners, and plenty of food and drink to go around. (Yes, this includes alcohol. Please do try to be responsible though, hm?)

Similarly, some of you may recognize the frosty patterns that lightly dust the walls and surfaces and the usual staff and their assistants are back in action. Should you require anything, you may ask one of them and they'll be at your service!

The lodge has plenty of rooms filled with furniture, fireplaces, games and more. And for those of you feeling a little more adventurous, you may venture outdoors. To the left there's a sprawling garden with gazebos, firepits, flowers and lit topiary displays. To the right, you may follow the path down to a hot spring. And straight ahead? There's the path leading you right to a rental shack holding skis, snowboards and snow mobiles.

This almost seems...quaint, doesn't it? And perhaps it's a little too easy, but you should know by now everything comes with a price.

Sprigs of mistletoe are pinned up in every doorway once again, bright red bows and dustings of frost lingering around them. Don't try to escape to the outdoors to avoid it! Ice sculptures appear in every direction each decorated with the mystical plant. You could try to avoid it, really, but avoiding it too long will earn a chilly breath of air directly in your ear as you're pushed straight into the nearest person. Wouldn't you rather choose on your own?

Well! The choice is yours, and you might want to make it fast. There's no way out without paying the kiss tax, after all.

It wasn't really a dress code for the place. One of our Watchers decided it'd be funny to start us all out in those clothes, since they didn't have our things.

[ there's a wryness in his voice.

but finley notices these things as he watches closely. she doesn't make a comment on it, despite the fact that she can. as long as homura doesn't do anything that's going to disturb the peace, she won't both confronting her on that. ]

You had some kind of dress code where you were at?

Not quite as such, but... we arrived with one outfit of our own, the one we were wearing. But we also had a spare that would change per week, based on the place we arrived at. It was animal pajamas one week, fantasy themed another, the American Wild West I mentioned earlier... that sort of thing.

[ don't mind it. sometimes her shadow looks more like the reflection in the glass here, but it's fine, probably. all in all the vibe is just slightly surreal and mismatched, like a slightly too-vivid dream. ]

[ that catches his attention out of the corner of his eye, but he files it away instead of noting it out loud. at least not yet. ]

Huh. We got two sets of clothes and had to find them at various locations. Each week we ended up a different place and could get clothes from whatever location we were at, but nothing extra was provided to us like that. Or really themed beyond what we could find where we were at.

We could too, but I believe many of us ended up stealing more weapons and other utilities than we did clothing. The week there was a store with guns available, for example, I stopped by to pick a few things up and found it to be nearly completely cleared out.

...Yeah, I can't say there wasn't a lot of theft for a lot of other items, too.

Our group mainly focused on knives.

[ SO MANY KITCHEN KNIVES. ]

I imagine some of ours did too. Though regardless, some of our deaths still were... quite varied.

[ roller coaster murder. ]

I assume you had a similar experience, at least.

[ you know, one where people were dying every week for no good reason. ]

Unfortunately, yeah... And we never knew how many would show up missing every Friday.

[ it sure sucked! and he hates that there are other people that experienced this kind of thing. different iterations. ]

You did not have to look for them, then? ... And does that mean your kills weren't to fulfill a specific quota, or eliminate those who would become a danger to themselves and others?

[ not knowing how many... sure, they didn't know either at first, but after a point maybe they didn't know how many would turn up dead in a week but they sure knew who still needed to make a kill. ]
