[so as far as background goes, ishi was definitely his professor before? he's been here teaching herbology for god knows how long. sometimes people question if he's secretly a ghost or something but he has always laughed and patted their shoulder to prove he's tangible and moved on. it's fine. don't worry about the fact that he clearly has not aged since majima was a student.
but of course, as a fellow teacher... it doesn't take him long to go meet the new hires, and-- ah. the name was familiar for good reason; he might look different now, but ishi has a good memory, and the recognition's clear.]
I would tell you 'welcome', but perhaps I should say 'welcome back', instead?

It seems experience has been a much better educator than I was to you, if your marks in my class were much indication.
[ let's be real, majima isn't surprised at all to see ishi still part of the faculty. there are fewer ways to have major accidents in herbology than, say, potions or transfiguration, after all. hell, maybe his extensive knowledge of magical flora is a major factor in him retaining his youthful appearance after all these years. who knows?
as the other man approaches, majima waves a loose hand in greeting. his other is tucked into the pocket of his signature jacket because do you really think he'd be wearing anything resembling formal teaching attire. even if he wasn't a former slytherin, he's always had a fondness for snakes. ]
Have ya ever met a Hogwarts professor who wasn't a student here at some point, teach? And c'mon—I might not know shit 'bout plants, but clearly I musta done somethin' right to land the job. Even if it was just "bein' dumb enough to apply for a cursed position," it's still a gig that's gonna pay the bills, y'know?
