Jingle Mingle...2

Some of you may be used to this by now. For some of you, this may be your very first time being swept away in a flurry of snowflakes. (Though some of you may have been particularly naughty and were shoved into a burlap sack before disappearing into the storm.) As usual, it seems as though the time for bloodshed has passed and when you open your eyes you're greeted with...

...a ski lodge.

Worry not! This isn't the lodge Krampus had taken residence in but it's a rather large and cozy getaway. You may even find that your clothes have changed into something holiday-appropriate for the occasion. It seems as though someone has gone around decking the halls with boughs of holly, lights strewn along the walls, Christmas trees in large corners, and plenty of food and drink to go around. (Yes, this includes alcohol. Please do try to be responsible though, hm?)

Similarly, some of you may recognize the frosty patterns that lightly dust the walls and surfaces and the usual staff and their assistants are back in action. Should you require anything, you may ask one of them and they'll be at your service!

The lodge has plenty of rooms filled with furniture, fireplaces, games and more. And for those of you feeling a little more adventurous, you may venture outdoors. To the left there's a sprawling garden with gazebos, firepits, flowers and lit topiary displays. To the right, you may follow the path down to a hot spring. And straight ahead? There's the path leading you right to a rental shack holding skis, snowboards and snow mobiles.

This almost seems...quaint, doesn't it? And perhaps it's a little too easy, but you should know by now everything comes with a price.

Sprigs of mistletoe are pinned up in every doorway once again, bright red bows and dustings of frost lingering around them. Don't try to escape to the outdoors to avoid it! Ice sculptures appear in every direction each decorated with the mystical plant. You could try to avoid it, really, but avoiding it too long will earn a chilly breath of air directly in your ear as you're pushed straight into the nearest person. Wouldn't you rather choose on your own?

Well! The choice is yours, and you might want to make it fast. There's no way out without paying the kiss tax, after all.

Oh! Well, that doesn't sound so bad. It certainly sounds better than the last... well, no, the first time I got whisked away somewhere.

As long as nobody dies, I guess...

Wait. This has happened more than once to you?

They'd better not. [she puffs her cheeks out] I'd say we've all had enough of that!

Ah, well. Once for an extended period of time, and then once a few months back for some sort of a... festival? But that was just for a short time, and no one died. I'm hoping this is like that.

You mean this kind of thing is going to keep happening? Wasn't once enough?

Well, it's only been one time for the murder, at least.

[so! there's that. she is steadfastly not acknowledging crau's existence.]

In a way it's like going somewhere to visit the others - just as a surprise.

We could already do that, though. There's no point in kidnapping everyone again just for that.

...well, I imagine the point would probably be to get the sticks in the mud who would refuse an invitation to come along.

There were certainly a few people like that in my group! What about in yours?

[ he thinks of nero immediately. ]

...Yeah, there were definitely those types with us. Not that I can blame them. I think most people wouldn't want to come to a place that could have someone who killed them before and have to see them again.

[she immediately thinks of eleanor and hopes it won't bother her too much of their paths cross.]

Well, yes, that would be... awkward. [...] Is there anyone like that for you? I could run interference if you don't want to see them.

There are people I don't want to see, but not because of that. And it's too late to avoid them, anyway.

[ sasazuka... ]

But thanks for the offer, I guess.

[oh, rip... she has to fight to keep from looking in sasazuka's direction, since she's already heard that they don't get along.]

You're quite welcome. ...I am glad to hear that you don't have, ah, that sort of complication with anyone, though... the circumstances we were all in before showing up here are quite something!

Not that I'm disagreeing, but I wasn't even a real participant, so I was fine.

[ we don't need to talk about the whole... bomb... thing now that it's over, right?

[she considers that for a moment, and then she gives a little oh! and nods once.]

I see! Were you involved in overseeing parts of what happened, then? There were some people like that in my group - but really, they were trapped just as much as we were.

Mm. They called us "watchers," and we were supposed to act as guides for everyone. Not that we could do much to help when they wouldn't tell us anything useful, either.

[her brow furrows]

I can only imagine how frustrating that must have been.

I think it was even worst for the actual participants, honestly. Knowing nothing and knowing that someone might kill them or that they could be forced to kill at any moment?

[ shakes his head. ]

I don't know which was worse.

...well, perhaps neither is better nor worse - simply terrible in different ways.

As a participant in mine, I can say that was certainly frustrating for me too... [she sighs.] But knowing things and wanting to help, but being unable to? That would be infuriating! In a "why do I know this if there's nothing I can do" sort of way...

Yeah... both are pretty bad.

What bothers me more is that this kind of situation is so common in the first place, or how it even works. Like... is it possible that someone might not come back from one of these things?

[ sasazuka and mineo are here, and they were fine. so that could mean ichika ended up in someplace like this, too. maybe that's why she disappeared. ]

If such a thing is possible, that's not something I've heard of. Things worked out well enough with my group, and that seems to have been the case with people from other groups that I've spoken with, too...

[she frowns]

But it would be better if this sort of thing wasn't happening in the first place.

[ that only eases his mind a little. it could still be possible... but even if it isn't, that still leaves him with no leads on his sister.

oh, well. back to square one. ]

It sounds like they aren't even happening for the same reasons. One person said something a "rogue story" - whatever that means - and someone else mentioned a school, but that wasn't what happened with us.

[ he hasn't realized those were the same game yet. ]

...What was the deal where you were, anyway?

A rogue story and a school, hmm...

[she also does not realize those are the same game. it's fine. she thinks about that, adding the descriptions to her mental list of games she's aware of, and then -

opens her fan and fans herself lightly to hide her blush, because thinking about the station is embarrassing.]

We ended up on a station that was... in space, although even now that's still difficult for me to wrap my mind around. [girl, you're a god, and space travel is weird to you?] Most of our problems were caused by a "furby".

...Those creepy talking dolls from the nineties? Seriously? Aren't those just supposed to be toys?

I suppose so? They don't have them where I come from, so I wouldn't know what they're supposed to be.

[she shrugs]

It started out as an AI, or something. [...] Which is another thing we didn't have where I come from.
