Jingle Mingle...2

Some of you may be used to this by now. For some of you, this may be your very first time being swept away in a flurry of snowflakes. (Though some of you may have been particularly naughty and were shoved into a burlap sack before disappearing into the storm.) As usual, it seems as though the time for bloodshed has passed and when you open your eyes you're greeted with...

...a ski lodge.

Worry not! This isn't the lodge Krampus had taken residence in but it's a rather large and cozy getaway. You may even find that your clothes have changed into something holiday-appropriate for the occasion. It seems as though someone has gone around decking the halls with boughs of holly, lights strewn along the walls, Christmas trees in large corners, and plenty of food and drink to go around. (Yes, this includes alcohol. Please do try to be responsible though, hm?)

Similarly, some of you may recognize the frosty patterns that lightly dust the walls and surfaces and the usual staff and their assistants are back in action. Should you require anything, you may ask one of them and they'll be at your service!

The lodge has plenty of rooms filled with furniture, fireplaces, games and more. And for those of you feeling a little more adventurous, you may venture outdoors. To the left there's a sprawling garden with gazebos, firepits, flowers and lit topiary displays. To the right, you may follow the path down to a hot spring. And straight ahead? There's the path leading you right to a rental shack holding skis, snowboards and snow mobiles.

This almost seems...quaint, doesn't it? And perhaps it's a little too easy, but you should know by now everything comes with a price.

Sprigs of mistletoe are pinned up in every doorway once again, bright red bows and dustings of frost lingering around them. Don't try to escape to the outdoors to avoid it! Ice sculptures appear in every direction each decorated with the mystical plant. You could try to avoid it, really, but avoiding it too long will earn a chilly breath of air directly in your ear as you're pushed straight into the nearest person. Wouldn't you rather choose on your own?

Well! The choice is yours, and you might want to make it fast. There's no way out without paying the kiss tax, after all.

... Right. Different. [ why are these teens in weird suits ] How many have you been to again?

A couple of dozen, probably. I sort of stopped counting after a while. Why do you ask?

[because it's fucking weird, sora, that's why.]

It's a little crazy to me still. We know worlds are connected to our own through the quantum sea back home, but the digital world's the only one we can travel to on purpose.

For now. Maybe you just haven't found the right way to get to others? We have all kinds of ways to travel between worlds, but usually Donald, Goofy and I just take the Gummi Ship and fly that way. How do you usually get to the digital world?

[ it's a good thing he'd already heard about gummi ships so he didn't make fun of it. ]

We can open the gate using a computer, usually.

Oh. Kind of like how we got to the Grid. [there's a nod like this means literally anything to yamato.] You...weren't trapped there afterwards, were you?

... Yeah, kinda. For a couple of months.

[...huh.]

So how'd you get back then? The gate just opened again?

No. We found a way to open it up, but we were just following a Digimon who went to attack our world. He was looking for Taichi's sister, Hikari. [ this is all stuff rik doesn't know and it's very funny. ] She was chosen like us, but she'd stayed home sick from camp.

[there's a slow nod because this sounds familiar and not familiar all at once. glad riku knows nothing and sora's learning more than necessary.]

When we were all split up, Kairi was the only one of us who made it home at first. Riku and the King sealed themselves up in the Realm of Darkness, and Donald, Goofy and I went to find a way to bring them back. Kairi eventually got tired of waiting for us and found a way off of our island...some other things happened, but when we all met up again she got her own Keyblade.

I guess maybe she always had the ability to but we never knew it until then. [there's a soft smile though.] She's getting really strong though. She's been training with Axel and they're both getting better at fighting.

[ huh. familiar but unfamiliar is right, though he didn't know this much about any of this. for example: ]

Axel? [ who the fuck. ]

Oh, yeah. I don't know if Riku told you about the Organization, but they're this group we've been fighting. Axel used to be a part of them, but now he's on our side. He's got his own Keyblade, too.

[ ... huh ]

Sort of like Ichijouji or Tailmon. [ it's more to himself, but: ] I don't think Riku knew that part. He mentioned the Organization, but nothing about any of them being good. Except... Roxas, I guess.

Sure. [he does not question this. but he lifts an eyebrow. that makes sense knowing what he knows about riku's timeline, but he doesn't say so.]

What'd he have to say about Roxas?

That he's your Nobody. And... that he had to bring him back so you could wake up.

[ which is the nice way of putting get him out of existence. ]

Mm. [there's a nod to that.] Yeah, that's right. But everything worked out. Axel and Roxas are friends...Xion, too. So they helped us fight in the end.

The end? I thought you guys beat the Organization. Riku mentioned you two fought Xemnas and won.

[ah. oops. for a moment sora looks like he's aware that he's misspoken, but he takes a sip of his hot chocolate instead to stall.]

We did, yeah. That's right. I couldn't have done it without him.

[ hmmmm. ]

But that wasn't the end, was it?

[hm!]

It was for Riku, as far as he knows right now. So yeah, that was the end.

But he comes back, doesn't he?

[ rip to sora but yamato doesn't let things go like that, ]

[he actually doesn't seem to mind, but he also seems to be weighing his words to give yamato an answer.]

Not just him. Others, too. But we took care of it. Things are peaceful now.

For how long?

[ partially projecting, partially-- ]

Riku seems to think so long as you guys have Keyblades, you'll keep being involved in stuff.

That's probably true, but that doesn't matter right now. Things are okay and that's all that counts. Everything else, we can do together.

[ hmmmm. it's too bad he doesn't know sora's full of shit and that he is omitting being dead ]

... Guess you're right. You guys got through it together plenty already.
